Meet Our I am Protected Advocate Lauren
Lauren's IG bio states she has "hair like Demi, Gob like (Danny) Dyer" and you'll most definitely hear when Lauren has arrived! Lauren - the pocket rocket of our campaign - is small but mighty, she's a fierce as f*ck campaigner for all cancer experiences. She's a cancer survivor working tirelessly to hold space, be a voice and protect the she cancer community. She is a protector for many and we are proud to have her in our campaign. She is the perfect person to embody 'I am Protected'.
Lauren at age 31, in 2016 was diagnosed with breast cancer, this initial diagnosis left her desperate for advice and reassurance. At that time she could not find a community for like minded people or age so went on to share her honest, unfiltered tales of treatment under Girl Vs Cancer. To tackle the cancer taboo, communicate the challenges of getting cancer as a young adult, and make a space where her peers would feel empowered to talk about it too.
Since 2016 she has changed the way people percieve cancer and open a dialogue on this sensitive subject. She is a co-host of the award-winning You, Me and The Big C podcast (ARIAS Gold Award Best New Show, TRIC Podcast of The Year) and has earned a whole host of shiny accolades including Stylist’s Remarkable Women Triumph, BBC’s 100 Women, Webby’s People’s Voice and Future Dream’s Humanitarian Award and earlier this year was hounoured with a Doctorate for her work within the cancer community and launched a breast cancer friendly lingerie collection with Pretty Little Thing. The first of its kind with a major fashion brand.
On set we had her "Ray of Hope' her Schnauzer Ray, her new man, her talisman, her protector. Ray is truly a gift from angels, who came into her life after her colleague and friend Dame Deborah James (Bowel Babe) passed away earlier this year. Lauren, you will always be Protected.
Lauren has chosen Girl Vs Cancer as her nominated charity - which means that we will donate 15% from the sales of every I am Protected Energy Mist to charity between now and Christmas.
