The Tarot Reading That Changed My Life
We’ve held space for around 10,000 tarot readings since we first launched 12 years ago. That’s a hell of a lot of readings. And within that, there are some that have really stayed with me. The kind of tarot readings that can genuinely change someone’s life, and remind me why SLC exists.
Olivia Strange’s first reading with us was one of them.
“It was full Tower moment energy, not easy to receive, but an absolute gift. I left the job, the relationship and the identity that no longer made sense and started again from scratch."
“It was a really tricky time,” she says. “The signs and synchronicities were getting louder and harder to ignore, even though I really tried to. I followed that intuitive nudge and booked my first tarot reading.”
It was back in 2017, during our SLC Hang-outs, when she came in for a session with Tamara Dreissen, known as Wolf Sister at the time. The Hang-outs were about creating space for our community to come together, meet their people, and feel a bit less alone in whatever they were navigating.
"Up until then I’d completely suppressed my spiritual ‘gifts’. I felt lost in a life I’d built that didn’t make sense and wasn’t bringing me any joy."
Like a lot of people who come in for a reading, there was more going on than what was visible on the surface. And that’s exactly what got brought into focus.
“That reading changed everything. It validated the insight I had dismissed and gave me the courage to take a leap into the unknown. It felt terrifying at the time.”
She’s always spoken about that moment as being truly transformational. Not because everything instantly shifted, but because she did. There was more clarity, more confidence, and a stronger sense of what felt right for her. A deeper connection to who she was, and the life she actually wanted to step into. You can see that in everything she’s done since.
She stepped fully into her power as an artist and as a queer witch, with a voice that’s unmistakably her own.
“It was full Tower moment energy,” she says. “Not easy to receive, but an absolute gift. I left the job, the relationship and the identity that no longer made sense and started again from scratch.”
This is when you know a tarot reading has changed your life.
When a tarot reading changes your life...
Since then, she’s exhibited across London and internationally, presented a solo show at Liminal Gallery, and was featured at London Art Fair as part of the PLATFORM section curated by Gemma Rolls-Bentley, where she was awarded Critics’ Choice. She’s shown with Shoreditch Modern, Southwark Park Galleries, and most recently at the Saatchi Gallery.
Her work is visceral. Sculptural, physical, sometimes confronting. She pulls apart mythologies we’ve all grown up with through a queer feminist lens, giving agency back to figures like Persephone, Eve, and the witch.
There’s a tension in it.
It isn’t trying to be comfortable. Pleasure sits alongside something sharper, something harder to look at.
She’s described objects as portals, a way of accessing different versions of yourself, or ways of being that don’t always feel available in everyday life.
That way of seeing carries directly into her readings.
“Tarot and witchcraft became a way of life,” she says. “The lens I view everything through now, and something I trust completely. It’s what’s helped me through the hardest times.”
And it makes sense that she reads with us now. This is where that shift began for her, so there’s something very full circle about her coming back and sitting on the other side of the table. She knows what it feels like when a reading really lands, and you can feel that in how she holds space for people.
"Now I get to pay it forward, helping people see what they might not be able to see yet, and make the shifts that move them closer to the life they actually want."
This is why SLC exists. Not just to offer readings, but to create moments like that. The ones that stay with you and actually move something, even if it’s quietly.
Olivia is reading with us at Positive Retail in Dalston this weekend.
If you’ve been thinking about getting a reading, this is a good moment to do it.
A tarot reading changed my life is something we hear more often than you might think.
