Ready to tap into some serious Crone energy? Join us for Healing the Witch Wound, where we’ll dive deep into reclaiming the power of the Crone—the wise, magical woman inside each of us.
Once celebrated as healers and wisdom-keepers, Crones got a bad rep during the European Witch Trials. Thousands of women were silenced, persecuted, and feared for embracing their intuitive gifts. But that’s all about to change!
In this powerful ritual, we’ll shake off the patriarchal curse that turned “Crone” into a four-letter word. The Witch Wound is a collective trauma that’s been passed down through generations, making us second-guess our intuition, wisdom, and feminine power. But no more! We’re here to flip the script.
The Witch Trials, fueled by patriarchy and superstition, attempted to sever women from their power and silence those who dared to embrace their wisdom. Though centuries have passed, the Witch Wound—the collective trauma of these persecutions—still lingers, manifesting today as fear, shame, and the suppression of feminine intuition.
We’ll reconnect with the true essence of the Crone—mature, wise, and unapologetically magical. Through sacred ceremony, you’ll release that ancient trauma, honor the Crone within, and step back into your full power, just like the women before us.
This isn’t just a healing ritual—it’s a full-on Crone glow-up! Ready to embrace your sovereign, witchy self? Let’s break free from the past and rise together in wisdom, magic, and fierce feminine energy.
Some interesting historical facts:
The word "crone" originates from the Middle English term "carogne," which was derived from the Old North French "caroigne," meaning "carrion" or "a dead body." This association with decay or the dead gradually evolved to imply an old, withered woman. Its deeper roots can be traced to the Latin "caro," meaning "flesh."
However, "crone" also has connections to ancient wisdom. In certain Celtic and pagan traditions, the Crone was one aspect of the triple goddess, representing the wise, older woman and symbolizing maturity, wisdom, and the culmination of life experiences. This interpretation celebrated the Crone as a figure of great knowledge and authority, especially in matters of healing, magic, and life transitions.
Over time, particularly during the European witch hunts and under patriarchal influence, the term "crone" became twisted into a derogatory label, synonymous with haggard, malicious old women—often linked to the stereotype of witches. This transformation served to vilify and diminish older women, particularly those who possessed knowledge or power, further marginalizing them within society.
The number of people who died during the European witch trials is estimated to be between 40,000 and 60,000, though some estimates go higher, potentially reaching up to 100,000. The trials occurred primarily between the 15th and 18th centuries and were spread across various regions of Europe and in colonial America.
As for the gender and age demographics, around 75% to 85% of those accused and executed as witches were women. The majority of these women were older, and estimates suggest that a significant percentage were over the age of 40. Women past childbearing age were particularly vulnerable to accusations, as they were often viewed with suspicion, especially in patriarchal societies where older women had less societal status and were sometimes seen as more likely to be "unnatural" or connected with witchcraft.
While precise data on the exact percentage of women over 40 is difficult to determine due to the range of trials and lack of uniform records, many scholars agree that older women, particularly those seen as wise women or healers, made up a notable proportion of the victims. This targeting was driven by the fear of female autonomy, wisdom, and power, which the crone archetype often symbolized.
