POSITIVITY - CONFIDENCE - MANIFESTATION

THE CRYSTAL

Yellow Beryl, sometimes known as Helidor, translates as 'sun' in Greek. This name couldn't be more perfect for this stone that brings positivity, new opportunities and enlightenment. This allows you to step into your personal power with confidence , navigate life and is a good stone for manifesting success.

THE STORY

This beryl is our second official Crystal Clear™ validated crystal. SLC's founder, Jill Urwin, has been working for years to clean up opaque supply chains in the crystal industry. This aquamarine from Tharaka Nithi County, Eastern Kenya is part of our efforts to provide the artisanal miners with a route to market that enables the final customer - you - to buy with complete clarity and confidence.

Crystal Clear™ has completed CRAFT due diligence guidelines at the mine to monitor fair-trade practices and identify areas of improvement as part of a longer term partnership with the mine. To provide further transparency, these batches of aquamarine are recorded on blockchain technology Provenance Proof.

This beryl is mined by Sparta Mines - a group of young men from Embu County in Kenya. They discovered the aquamarine deposit on their ancestral farmlands in the village, which gave them an opportunity for an alternative source of income.

GIVING BACK

The main challenge with this mine is that it is completely artisanal. The Mining ACT Kenya of 2016 officially recognises artisanal miners and legalises their activities, but Government roll out for issuing necessary mining permits is very slow.

Once the Government rolls out the permit program, Sparta mines will need to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment, apply and pay for their permit. At around 1000 USD, this is far more than these young men can afford. £1 from each aquamarine sold will help Sparta buy their permit.

5% profit from all purchases at She's Lost Control is donated to Crystal Clear - the social enterprise empowering artisanal mining communities.
